Founder’s Bio: Efren Olivares

Efren Olivares holds a Master of Art in Modern and Contemporary Art from Christie’s Education, where he received the 2016 Faculty Award.  Having worked briefly at the Christie’s Photographs Department, Efren became Associate Director for sepia-EYE, a Chelsea-based gallery focused on photography.

In 2017, Efren founded Look@NYArt to educate and engage audiences on Modern and Contemporary in NYC.  Efren has over 20 years of experience in public speaking. He recently also oversaw Group Experiences at the Museum of the City of New York and continues to be a Museum Guide. He has also led Spanish and English tours at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art. During the COVID lockdown in 2020-21, Efren delivered a series of highly-acclaimed photography lectures at no cost, many of which have received thousands of views and praise across the globe at Mira Con Efren: Look at Art Photography with Efren. Efren is licensed as an official NYC Sightseeing Guide.

Efren’s understanding of Art Business benefits from his holding a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Efren has lived and worked in four countries and is completely bilingual English/Spanish.
